Zion's 2009 Mission Project From the Stewardship Board An introduction to our newly adopted missionaries…
During the year of 2009, Zion congregation will be supporting the Rev. Charles and Jeanette Groth with our gifts and prayers. Throughout the year we will be in contact with them and they will share their experiences they are having in Cambodia. Our goal is to send $6,000 this year to help fund their ministry. An envelope will be placed monthly in your church mail box that may be used for this purpose. May we prayerfully consider this challenge in serving our God with our gifts that will reach out to a world in need of hearing God's Word.
Following is a brief introduction:
Pastor Charles and Jeanette Groth are called to serve God in Southeast Asia, being based in Cambodia where LCMS World Mission works to support established churches there. Pastor Groth serves as a pastor/mentor for leadership training and Jeanette is the education, volunteer, and mission responder coordinator. Together they are working to put together curriculum and teaching for the training of the Lutheran leaders in Southeast Asia. Pastor Groth was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. He has served parishes in Richton Park, IL, Crown Point, IN, and Lexington, KY. He also served five years in Ghana, West Africa. Jeanette is finishing work on her doctorate in curriculum and instruction. She has taught in Lutheran schools in Bloomington, Homewood, and Springfield, IL, and taught social studies in the Fayette County, KY, school system. She has written books and educational material for Concordia Publishing House for 25 years. Pastor Groth and Jeanette would like prayers for their family while they are separated from them. Pray that God will continue to keep them focused on sharing Jesus as they work in training pastors and leaders. May the Holy Spirit open hearts as they share the love of Christ Jesus with many in Southeast Asia. 2009 Sunday School Mission Projects
